Dear Parents and Teachers,

1. At Mr. Robbins (the principal of the UMS) request, due to two performances at the UMS, we will not have school on March 28, 2009.

2. As scheduled, we will have no school on April 4 and April 11 (Spring break).  School will resume on April 18, 2009.

3.  The president of MTEA, Mr. Christopher Crow, wrote the letter below to our school and our parents.  The voting day for the budget is April 22, 2009. Use you voting privilege to support school budget.

Subject: Vote ¡°YES¡±

Dear Parents,

Those of us who work as teachers and administrators in Montgomery schools are passionate about maintaining the level of excellence in education that we currently provide our students, but we cannot do this alone. We need your help on April 21.

Our Board has requested the lowest budgetary increase in recent history. If our budget does not pass, we will likely face cutbacks that include eliminating teachers and other staff members, increasing class sizes, and reducing academic and extra-curricular programs.

As a result passing the budget is very important in order to keep schools in Montgomery strong, and YES votes from the Huaxia Montgomery residents can make the difference.

Information about the budget is readily accessible to anyone with interest. Just go to the District website under Board of Education and click on Board Documents, where you will find the 2009-10 Budget Brochure.

On behalf of the entire MTEA, as well as our students, I thank you for your support.

Best regards,

Christopher Crow, President
Montgomery Township Education Association

4. Girl Scout Troop 60386 asks donations from us. Please do your best to support their services. The forms are attached.

Hey Everybody!

I am working on my Silver Award project and I am collecting items and full boxes for Operation Shoebox. This is an organization that sends care packages to our soldiers all over the world. I want to be able to have three to five boxes and to reach that goal, I need your help! You can either make your own care package (no postage please) or buy some items from the list.

The boxes and items can be dropped off at my Girl Scout Troop's Service Saturday. The event is May 2, 2009 1:00 - 4:00 pm at Blawenburg Village Square at the corner of Route 518 and Route 601. I will be using the items to make boxes of my own and I will bring all of the boxes to the drop-off center. I greatly appreciate your donations. If you would like, you may send this to your friends and neighbors in Montgomery Township. Please keep it in Montgomery! Our Service Saturday is to encourage people in our local community to get involved and volunteer.

Attached are two forms. One is the list of wanted items for Operation Shoebox that you could donate and the other is the flyer about the Service Saturday event.

Thank you in advance for your contributions!

Sincerely,

Katie Laskey
