Dear Parents and Teachers,

School will resume on Jan. 17, 2009.

Several things need to communicate with you.

 

  1. The 2009 HuaXia Night (HXN) tickets are ready for you to pick up. Please come to PA staff for your reserved tickets. There are a few tickets remaining. Please purchase it this week. The 2009 Huaxia Night will be held at the State Theatre of New Jersey in New Brunswick on Saturday, January 31st, 2009. The flyer is attached.

 

  1.  HXN 100 kids Chorus rehearsal will be held at our school this Saturday from 1:30 – 3:30pm. Because the conductor is only available at 1:30 – 3:30 PM, these kids may need to skip their Chinese classes. Chinese class teachers will give them proper make up. The following is a message from the coordinator.

    Thank you for making the 1st rehearsal under challenging weather condition.. 
    Thanks to Edison school for making that rehearsal possible.

    Schedule and changes:

    1. Our 2nd rehearsal will be on 1/10 (Sat) 1:30-3:30pm in Cafeteria in Montgomery HXCS.
    There are entrance doors at left and right wings of the building.  The cafeteria is in the middle.

    Again, please car pool as much as you can.

    2. 1/17 rehearsal is CANCELED.  The last rehearsal before performance day will be on 1/25 (Sun) 1:20-3:20pm in Edison .

    The two remaining rehearsals (1/10, 1/25) are mandatory.

    Some tasks and requirements for parents and students from our conductor Shuang Guo:

    1. Parents prepare children on piano, note by note, for them to sing in tune: an absolute requirement.
    2, Practice "You and Me" as slow as possible.
    3.. Reinforce before hand with our children the discipline of "NO talking/playing around during rehearsal".
    3. On 1/10, parents/students please arrive at 1pm, find room, mark attendance sheet/name list, settle students down, review the songs and get ready.
    4. Parents please bring a yellow marker and a pencil to take notes.
    5. lead solo singers will be chosen at this Saturday's rehearsal..

    Both
    students and parents have quite some tasks to nail down during these
    ONLY two rehearsals and at home.  You can do it. They can do it.

  4. One more positive note: We have four teenager volunteers
    (Teresa Zhong, Lily Wang, James Yang, Andy Li) who like to offer a free English
    class for our seniors. If you or your parents would like to learn more English
    or want to take the Citizenship Test, the class will start on the next school
    day on Jan. 31, 2009. See the attachment for the class description.
