Week 11 Message

Dear Parents and Teachers,

Recently, the email server company has migrated our email server. The migration caused some problems to us. Until this point, I still cannot send weekly message to you.

1. On Wednesday Nov. 11, per School superintendent invite, Board member David Lin, Joanne Yuen and I had a meeting with the Montgomery School PTA leaders. In the meeting, we had a very successful communication with the PTA members. We presented our HX on organization, mission, number of students and families, classes, and contact information. Also, we took many feedbacks, suggestions, and comments from them. One of major requests is encourage our parents and children participate in variety activities in our community, i.e. Dancing party in the MHS, etc. We had one agreement that is we need to have more communication channels and increase the ways of presentation of multi-culture. On the meeting, a school staff told us that our school website www.hxcsmg.org soon will be put in the Montgomery School District website.

2. The latest status of the SiChun EarthQuake Donation.

Our HXHQ staff and one HX-CT board member have been spending a lot time intensively communicating with China since the beginning of this semester. With the help of China Education Development Foundation (中国教育发展基金会) and local governments, HXCS have identified 四川省安县黄土镇小学, a severely damaged elementary school in the center of the May-12th Si-chuan earthquake, as the beneficiary of Huaxia's earthquake donation ($ 238,056.40). Specifically, the total amount will be wired to 中国教育发展基金会 and it will used to build a new teaching building (教学楼) at 黄土镇小学. The new building will be named "华夏中文学校教学楼".

3. Christmas and New Year Party:

The Christmas and New Year Holiday approaching and we are preparing a party for the celebration of the holidays. The party is consists of two parts. One is performances on the stage. Another part is fun games in Cafeteria organized by the PA. The celebration party will be held on Saturday Dec. 20 at 7:00pm at UMS auditorium and Cafeteria. Ticket price is $5. Each kid will get a holiday gift with a kid ticket.
